The radiosurgery planning in MNPS was developed to model dose distributions associated with linear accelerators (LINAC) with attached circular collimators.
The radiosurgery scheme implemented in the MNPS is known in the literature as multiplanar, presupposes the irradiation with multiple converging, noncoplanar irradiation arcs. The accelerator table should be isocentric and remain at rest during the convergent irradiation of each arc.
The planning system is intrinsically three-dimensional, both from the point of view of the calculation algorithms and by the graphical representation of the results of the dosimetric fused with the neuroimaging.
The determination of the source-skin distance for each discrete arc of radiation is performed by graphical methods within the program itself.
Recent versions of MNPS-RS include an inverse planning tool to optimize target coverage and spare surrounding tissue and organ at risks. -
Includes all features of conventional MNPS and also:
- Support for circular collimators.
- Up to 64 isocenters and 64 dynamic radiation arcs.
- Dose-volume histogram.
- Conformity index.
- Automatic calculation of Source-Skin distance.
- 2D and 3D isodose rendering.
